About this program
Students develop fundamental electrical skills tohelp them prepare for a career in the installation,operation, maintenance, and repair ofresidential, commercial, and industrial systems.Students will engage in hands-on activities in alab setting. They will be introduced to residentialwiring of houses and apartments; commercialwiring of retailers, schools, businesses, andhospitals; and industrial wiring of factories.Students will also study electrical theory andmathematical problems related to electricity,apply requirements of the National ElectricalCode (NEC) Book, select and install conductors,examine lighting, communication, and powersystems, and work with conduit and raceways,panelboards, switchboards, grounding systems,and generators. Students will also studyalternative renewable energy sources includingwind generators, solar panels, & communicationcabling and wiring.
